A Prayer for Forgiveness of Sins with Bible Verses
A Prayer for Forgiveness of Sins with Bible Verses
Heavenly Father,
I come before You with a contrite heart, acknowledging my sins and shortcomings. Your word assures us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I humbly confess my sins before You, seeking Your forgiveness and cleansing.
Lord Jesus, You are the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, as proclaimed in John 1:29. Your sacrificial love on the cross offers the redemption and forgiveness that I desperately need. I believe in Your power to forgive and restore.
In Psalm 103:12, Your word declares, "As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us." I cling to this promise, knowing that once I confess my sins, You separate them from me, never to be held against me again.
I am grateful for Your merciful nature, as stated in Micah 7:18, "Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love." Your love and mercy extend beyond my failings, and You delight in offering forgiveness to those who seek it.
Lord, I seek Your forgiveness for both known and unknown sins, as written in Psalm 19:12, "Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults." Cleanse me from all impurities, purify my heart, and make me blameless before You.
I take comfort in Your promise from Isaiah 1:18, "Come now, let us settle the matter. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." Your forgiveness washes away my sins, making me pure and righteous in Your sight.
Thank You, Lord, for the assurance in Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Through Your grace, I am free from condemnation, and I embrace the gift of forgiveness You offer me.
In Psalm 51:10, King David prayed, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." I echo this prayer, asking You to create in me a clean heart, one that seeks righteousness and delights in Your ways.
I pray that Your Spirit would convict and guide me in paths of righteousness, as stated in John 16:8, "And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment." Let Your Spirit work in me, transforming my life and renewing my commitment to follow You.
Lord, I thank You for Your love and forgiveness, and I commit to turning away from sin and walking in obedience to Your word. As Your word says in Acts 3:19, "Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out."
I receive Your forgiveness with a grateful heart, knowing that You have made me a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). May Your forgiveness lead me to live a life that honors and glorifies You.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer and granting me forgiveness. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
