God's Design for Sex Sermon Outlines

Title: "God's Design for Sex: Embracing Purity and Wholeness"

Introduction:

I. God's Intention for Sex

A. Genesis 2:24 - "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

B. Hebrews 13:4 - "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

C. Explain God's sacred design for sex within the context of marriage and its purpose in intimacy and procreation.

II. Sexuality in Today's Culture

A. Romans 1:24-27 - "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error."

B. Ephesians 5:3 - "But among you, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people."

C. Address the prevalent sexual norms in contemporary culture and the need for biblical values.

III. Purity and Sexual Integrity

A. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 - "It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God."

B. Proverbs 5:15-18 - "Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth."

C. Encourage the congregation to pursue sexual purity and honor God with their bodies.

IV. God's Grace and Healing for Sexual Brokenness

A. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 - "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

B. Psalm 51:10 - "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

C. Emphasize God's grace and healing for those who have struggled with sexual sin and brokenness.

V. Communication and Intimacy in Marriage

A. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 - "The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."

B. Song of Solomon 4:9-10 - "You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice!"

C. Encourage open communication and intimacy within marriage as God's gift for physical and emotional fulfillment.

VI. Honoring God with Our Bodies

A. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies."

B. Galatians 5:22-23 - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law."

C. Encourage the congregation to honor God with their bodies and seek the fruit of the Spirit in their lives.
