Introduction:

I. Understanding Spiritual Warfare

A. Ephesians 6:12 - "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

B. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 - "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds."

C. Explain the reality of spiritual warfare and the importance of being aware of the enemy's schemes.

II. The Armor of God: Equipped for Battle

A. Ephesians 6:13-18 - "Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand... Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests."

B. Examine each piece of the armor of God and its significance in our spiritual battle.

C. Encourage the congregation to put on the full armor daily and to rely on God's strength and protection.

III. Identifying the Enemy's Tactics

A. 1 Peter 5:8 - "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

B. Matthew 4:1-11 - Discuss the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness and draw lessons on how the enemy tries to deceive and distract believers.

C. Teach the congregation to be discerning and watchful against the schemes of the enemy.

IV. The Power of Prayer in Spiritual Warfare

A. James 5:16 - "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

B. Ephesians 6:18 - "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."

C. Emphasize the significance of fervent and persistent prayer in combating spiritual battles.

V. Overcoming Fear and Standing Firm

A. 2 Timothy 1:7 - "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."

B. Psalm 27:1 - "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?"

C. Encourage the congregation to rely on God's power and promises, overcoming fear and standing firm in their faith.
