 Title: "The Attitude of Thankfulness: Cultivating a Grateful Heart"

Introduction:

I. The Command to Give Thanks

A. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

B. Psalm 107:1 - "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."

C. Introduce the importance of thankfulness as a biblical command and a reflection of our relationship with God.

II. The Benefits of Thankfulness

A. Psalm 100:4 - "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name."

B. Philippians 4:6-7 - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

C. Explore the spiritual and emotional benefits of cultivating a heart of thankfulness.

III. Thankfulness in All Circumstances

A. Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

B. Habakkuk 3:17-18 - "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior."

C. Encourage the congregation to maintain thankfulness even in difficult circumstances, knowing that God is in control.

IV. The Source of True Thankfulness

A. James 1:17 - "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

B. Psalm 136:1 - "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever."

C. Remind the congregation that all blessings and goodness come from God, the source of our thankfulness.

V. Expressing Thankfulness through Worship

A. Psalm 95:2 - "Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song."

B. Colossians 3:16-17 - "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

C. Encourage the congregation to express their thankfulness through heartfelt worship and praise.


VI. Thankfulness as a Witness to the World

A. 1 Peter 2:9 - "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

B. Matthew 5:16 - "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

C. Challenge the congregation to let their thankfulness and gratitude shine as a testimony to God's goodness.

Conclusion:
